[Bug 367866] New: wrong partition added to grub's menu
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=367866 Summary: wrong partition added to grub's menu Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 2plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lmichnovic@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=199244) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=199244) grub's menu.lst Yast2 added during installation a partition which was separate /boot partition in the past and add it to grub's menu as openSUSE 10.3. I did not choose this partition as /boot this time. This guess is not correct and confuse users. Attaching /boot/grub/menu.lst. The second entry (/dev/sda2) should not be there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is the exact same problem. Why do other install programs recognize how to generate the correct grub menu.list files, etc. BUT not YaST? This has not been corrected in the last 2 major versions of OpenSUSE. I am hoping it will be corrected in 11, but it's still not corrected as of Beta 1. So your old /boot is bootable and yast think that it is possible boot from this partition. If partition is not bootable it is created configfile intead of chainloader. I am sorry if you are not sutisfied with adding other boot entries from other bootable partitions but there is other group of people that want to adding. :( You can manually delete added boot entries in yast2-bootloader during installation. I am sure that adding is not perfect but it is described in other bugs. ;-) the bug is closed like WONTFIX -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
