[Bug 527551] New: /usr/bin/conduit.real consumes silly amounts of time
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=527551 Summary: /usr/bin/conduit.real consumes silly amounts of time Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dcb314@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I've just been having a look at processes using a lot of time on my Suse Linux 11.1 box. For example, X and firefox have consumed about 3-4 minutes of time as shown from ps. root 4733 1.9 2.9 121728 53092 tty7 Ss+ 08:59 4:14 X :0 -auth /home/dcb/.serverauth.4714 -nolisten tcp -nolisten tcp dcb 5691 1.5 7.2 679940 130748 tty1 Sl 09:03 3:16 /usr/lib64/firefox/firefox but the runaway winner is dcb 4839 84.0 2.7 610528 49732 tty1 Sl 08:59 182:09 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/conduit.real -i which seems to have consumed over three hours of execution time since bootup. I'd be interested to find out why some random process is consuming so much CPU time and what I can do to reduce it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Packagers, please do not add openSUSE-local patches to fix this kind of errors but forward the bugs upstream and close the bugs as RESOLVED UPSTREAM. Note that it is perfectly fine to have "resource leaks" at the end of a program as the kernel will clean up for you. Manually freeing them only increases binary size and runtime. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
