[Bug 373124] New: runlevel scripts is crossing time settings.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=373124 Summary: runlevel scripts is crossing time settings. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: root@proximasociale.cz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- runlevel scripts is crossing time settings, which results into state, when time is every boot and poweroff set to false value .. it is done by commands hwclock --set 'new-time' && hwclock --hctosys reference about this issue can be found here :: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2002-01/msg00537.html http://suseforums.net/lofiversion/index.php/t41692.html and om much more places :: work-around is:: run $(yast sysconfig) and there find key 'system->environment->systohc' and set there value to no. is a smart to have by default this option enabled? ps. because i am quite lazy, i let my clock lives as they wanted and i've lived with inaccurate time for weeks and months.. i've found this key accidentally. regards by ntz -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The question is why writing the system time to the hardware clock get's things wrong on your machine. Did you verify the other settings ? - TIMEZONE set correctly - HWLOCK set correctly "","-u","--localtime" ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Timezone is set correctly and otherwise, nothing matter on timezone settings, when system is set up to harvest time directly from bios clock. when writing time back to bios is disabled, hardware clock is probably inaccurate, but if it is minute per ?month .. who knows.. regards by ntz -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think if this sets a wrong time, then some other setting on the system is wrong. reassigning to package-maintainer -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
