Um, I guess it was removed from the kernel:

Well, I'm not too bothered, this is the only ancient systems with this controller. Unless somebody else needs this, I can remain on 13.1 on this system.
Just for completeness - "cpqarray" supports other elderly Compaq controllers, some of which we also have in a couple of places = Smart Array 3200, Smart Array 2/P, Smart Array 4200. These systems will also remain on 13.1 (at the most). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Or, complain on LKML. If they know that someone still really needs this, the driver may be revived. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It supports some older boards, but the notion of "how old" is somewhat undefined. We've been adding PCI IDs to it in an "unsupported" manner for SLES. For the devices reporting an HP or Compaq vendor ID, you can test compatibility pretty easily using the module option "hpsa_allow_any=1" and adding the device IDs via the PCI "new_id" mechanism. You should see a warning and the device *may* work. For devices reporting a DEC vendor ID, we'd need to extend the driver to test for the DEC vendor ID. I'm afraid that, short of a maintainer stepping forward upstream, that's about the limit of what we can do for enabling older devices. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi Jeff, yeah, we've also moved to hpsa long ago, but for these very old cards, I guess hpsa is missing more than PCI IDs ?

Cool, thanks, I'll give that a go.

Yep, I understand. We'll just keep these couple of systems on 13.1 until all the disks have finally died :-) Thanks for getting back to me. I suggest we close this report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
