[Bug 473237] New: networking in xen doesn't started
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=473237 Summary: networking in xen doesn't started Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: internux@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008103100 SUSE/3.0.4-4.6 Firefox/3.0.4 If we install xen, suse puts the ip address on br0 and br1, not in the real interface. The bridge are activated "on cable connection" Unfortunately, even the cable are connected, the ip address doesn't came up. My workaround is to change the default "on cable connection" to "on boot". BUt it is nice for opensuse to change the default to "on boot", or to make sure the bridge is come up if the cable is connected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. instal opensuse with zen 2. set the ip address manually 3. Actual Results: network doesn't automatically started Expected Results: networking should automaticly started as default. I have tried in compaq presario v3700 and ibm x system with the same result. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

My workaround is to change the default "on cable connection" to "on boot".

I just checked several SLE11 machines running Xen and all have startmode='onboot' in bridge config file (/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-br*). I then did a fresh install of 11.1, selecting Xen packages and bridge was configured properly. On this machine, startmode was set to 'auto' but this is fine as 'on' == 'onboot' == 'auto', all meaning the interface will be set up as soon as it is available and service network was started. So I'm not able to reproduce this even on a stock 11.1 installation. Michal, have you seen the issue described here? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
