[Bug 841958] New: Installer doesn't include "iw" and "wpa-supplicant" be default

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841958 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841958#c0 Summary: Installer doesn't include "iw" and "wpa-supplicant" be default Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Beta 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pfederighi@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 The net install finishes and reboots. The final installer (from the hard drive) says that packaged "iw" and "wpa-supplicant" need to be installed in order to configure networking. If you choose to proceed, the installer tries to download them. Oh, the irony. They can be selected manually during the initial installation, but there is nothing to tell the user that they should do so. Also, if the net install is over wifi in the first place, it would make sense that they should automatically be installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run the net install over wifi. 2. Don't explicitly select the "iw" and "wpa-supplicant" packages. Actual Results: No wifi connectivity upon installation. Expected Results: Wifi connectivity and internet access. "iw" and "wpa-supplicant" should be installed by default. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is your system a laptop (or a mobile device like tablet)? Or is it a regular desktop PC?
