[Bug 671588] New: Kwin Desktop effects don't work using openGL with driver i915
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671588 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671588#c0 Summary: Kwin Desktop effects don't work using openGL with driver i915 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: RC 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: simon37@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; es-ES) Presto/2.7.62 Version/11.01 Hi, I installed openSUSE 11.4 RC1 in a netbook with an Intel GMA 3051 graphics card. After installation or using the LiveCD with KDE Desktop effects enabled Kwin will show the message that the effects were stopped because they were slow, turning on the box Disable functionality checks proves that's right. The driver loaded is i915. XRender works as supposed. I've tried before Milestone 5 and there I had no trouble with desktop effects. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OpenSUSE 11.4 RC1 or use its LiveCD (I've only installed once but happens every time using the LiveCD). 2. Turn on Desktop effects using OpenGL. Actual Results: No Desktop effects. Expected Results: Desktop effects working. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you methodically test if disabling the Blur and/or Translucency effects and re-login prevents the performance check from failing?
If so please attach the output of glxinfo here.
That's right, disabling Blur keeps the Desktop Effects up and running, though Translucency doesn't seem to matter. I attached the output of glxinfo.
