It could get the value of the macro at build time and re-encode it but where would that come from?

That would mean different binaries from the same source on SLE and Leap, which is pretty much against the closing-the-leap-gap spirit.

Out of these only the release package is available for local builds or OBS instances other than the SUSE one.
