Grub was not installed to the MBR either time. File system is Ext4 on second partition. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OS 2. Reboot 3. No Grub boot. Two files were generated. There is file y2log-1 which looks like it grew to a certain size so the system renamed it and continued in a fresh file. I've attached both, but I think the install log actually starts in the larger one. It turns out that when using YaST, no changes are *ever* written to the boot loader, no matter what you enter into the user interface. I added a Windows drive to one of my openSUSE 12.1 systems, and attempted to modify the GRUB bootloader options through YaST. I found that after making changes, they *were not saved*.
