Privoxy works on my machine very slow. My logs shows many "Unable to get my own hostname". The troubleshooting (compare http://www.privoxy.org/faq/trouble.html#NOHOSTNAME) refer this by a problem of the local HOSTS files. But I cannot discover any errors in the HOST file. It is likely you do not need IPv6. Then you can also try the new version of privoxy. I have tried out your hints (disabling IPv6/installing new version of privoxy) but they doesn't solve the problem. Could you try to disable IPv6 first and restart privoxy and check the logs. It is likely you do not need IPv6. Then you can also try the new version of privoxy. It is available at http://repos.opensuse.org/home:/lmich/openSUSE_10.2/ if it helps.
