For the bug to be clearly visible, type some TeX formula, e.g. "$\alpha$". Export to Combined PS/PDF/LaTeX. Open the foo_pspdftex.pdf file generated: the raw text appears, when it should not (compare foo_pspdftex.ps). Consequence: Try to \input{foo_pspdftex.tex} in a LaTeX document: you'll get two superimposed texts: an alpha and "$\alpha$". With Google you can find this bug has already been reported in other distros a few years ago, you can even find a patch proposal. Xfig does exactly what it should, if I type a greek alpha it works flawless as this will show a greek lpah and if I type the string "$\alpha$" in times roman I'll get this string and not any LaTeX formular. It's all about text with the "Special" flag set, and export to combined PS/PDF/LaTeX. Have you ever used these? Please do what I report: - compare foo_pspdftex.eps and foo_pspdftex.pdf, - compile a LaTeX document containing \input{foo.pspdftex}, first with latex+dvips, second with pdflatex, and compare the outputs (one PS file and one PDF file). You may also compare foo_pspdftex.pdf with foo.pdf that you get by exporting to combined PDF/LaTeX. I say "similar", because the bug described there impacts both the .eps and .pdf files. Here, as I mentioned, the .eps is correct, not the .pdf . So maybe this is a partial regression or a new bug. Don't know. I can't find the mentioned patch, but anyway it was distribution specific, so as you say it would make no sense using it.
