[Bug 571674] New: ekiga has no audio for h323 connections under KDE4
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=571674 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=571674#c0 Summary: ekiga has no audio for h323 connections under KDE4 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Joseph.Comfort@asu.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 SUSE/3.5.6-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.6 I have used gnomemeeting/ekiga for years for a project videoconference. But I have never been able to get ekiga to work with openSuSE 11.0 or later. I am stuck with 10.3 on my main computers at work, and it is no longer supported. I use KDE4 and need h323 to connect to an IP address of a MCU (in Japan). The problem is mostly or entirely audio. When I connect to the MCU on my 10.3 system, I get a voice message back that "You are the first participant." On the 11.x systems, there is NO audio in either direction. There is video transmission out (the bouncing ball), but nothing coming back (which I am not worried about at this point). The firewall is shut off, the user is assigned to the audio and video groups, and all other permissions are OK as far as I know. I have communicated with the ekiga developers, and sent them full dump files. They say they see nothing wrong. I have tried compiling their source files, run into all kinds of troubles and, even if successful, the code behaves the same way. I keep hoping that the SuSE version will eventually work as easily and as well as gnomemeeting or ekiga v2 once did. Even with SuSE 11.2 and the latest ekiga 3.2.6, it does not work. My sound system seems to be fine. I get system sounds, audio CDs play well, I get video and sound from web movie clips, and skype works fine. I can use arecord and aplay successfully. It is only ekiga which fails. I have checked versions in the OBS directories and even the latest version of ekiga or libraries from factory. No luck. The root problem might be something simple, but I have not found it. The problem has been very, very frustrating. One other item-- When I run the code now, I get the message XCAP error: Unauthorized (I do not have a SIP account, in case it is related.) [reply] [-] Comment 40 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Standard 11.2 install with KDE4 2. Configure hardware (as needed), update rpms, and install ekiga. 3. Run ekiga in KDE4 and connect with h323 to some place with an IP address. Actual Results: No sound in either direction, even when it is known that the other end is sending back a message. Expected Results: Full communication -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
