https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727582 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727582#c0 Summary: Gnome-Shell consumes to much RAM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: propstmatthias@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Blocker: --- I installed gnome3 with gnome-shell extensions on opensuse 12.1 rc1 with nvidia proprietary driver, The driver was installed from the Nvidia installer. However after running gnome-shell like 8 hours and just watching a couple of videos or listen to music the pc works very slow and htop shows that gnome-shell uses 60% of 2GB Ram and nearly 700/2GB Swap. This is not acceptable at all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm finding gnome-shell leaking like a sieve on my RTM 12.1 installation. The machine also uses the proprietary Nvidia driver, and after a day can be using a GiB of memory. :( $ rpm -q gnome-shell gnome-shell-3.2.1-2.4.1.i586 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

A lot of rewrites and improvements happened on GNOME 3.4 with respect to memory handling. GNOME 3.4 will be part of openSUSE 12.2, but the changes are not isolated and can not easily be backported (the best shot at the moment is GNOME:STABLE:3.4 repository). My machine has an uptime of ~ 2 days now and gnome-shell consumer 270 MB. As such, we believe that your issue is solved in the shortly upcoming version of openSUSE. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
