[Bug 558780] New: 11.2 as VMWare Guest - Keyboard & Mouse hang on KDE Login screen
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558780 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558780#c0 Summary: 11.2 as VMWare Guest - Keyboard & Mouse hang on KDE Login screen Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: jim.pye@pyenet.co.nz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009102100 SUSE/3.0.15-0.1 Firefox/3.0.15 New install of the network install version of openSUSE 11.2 32 bit on a VMWare Server 2 guest. On boot up I can change the boot option, so keyboard is working at this point. Continue to boot and when the KDE login screen appears both keyboard and mouse do not respond. This happens also on the failsafe mode boot up. During the normal boot up I see a message about a I/O resource conflict mentioning ACPI which doesnot seem to be there on Failsafe mode, but as the result is the same I do not think this is the cause. I see several messages on the forums with similar issue with KDE, posters mention that installing using GNOME works OK. So it is something with KDE. Have captured a screen shot of the ACPI message if you want to see that. But Cannot get to logfiles etc. as no login is possible once machine has booted. :( Can start the OS using the boot option 3 to start run level 3. Login and run startx but the mouse still seems to hang. However in this mode I can release the mouse grab of the VMWare using Ctl+Alt and when I click back on the VMWare session the mouse is positioned under the cursor but it does not move or respond until I do the Ctl+Alt again. This does not happen on runlevel 5 boot. Cheers Jim Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 11.2 on VMWare choosing KDE desktop 2. Start the virtual guest 3. Actual Results: No reaction to keyboard presses or mouse movements, once the login screen appears Expected Results: Be able to type in Username and Password to allow login to desktop -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
