Note that this makes many of the configuration options in <tt>/etc/powersave/sleep</tt> meaningless, you can configure suspend in <tt>/etc/pm/config</tt> now. good.

This question is very valid :-) Upstream has /etc/pm/config. We do not want to diverge from upstream (we are part of it), and pm-utils is supposed to be pretty much the same on all Distributions. I will have to think about a "converter" from /etc/powersave/* to /etc/pm/config (a post-update script) for SLE10SP1 (if the new framework gets in there) or SLE11, but 10.2 just came too early, the pm-utils stuff is still too much in flux. This is also the reason why i want to refer to the Wiki page :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221714 ------- Comment #6 from fseidel@novell.com 2006-11-17 03:44 MST ------- The text looks also ok to me. Merely the word "obsolete" (for the now meaningless options in the old conf.file) doesn't fit to good here in my opinion, as it (at least for me) indicates something which will be dropped soon and is not supported anymore, but could still work at least to some degree. I'd rather use something like "ineffective" or "being ignored" in the above statement. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Actually the real issue is that the filesystem structure of pm-utils is plain wrong. Arch independent scripts should be in /usr/lib/pm-utils and the config in /etc. This way we could simply create a symlink to from /etc/pm-utils to /etc/sysconfig/pm-utils which I already do for powersaved. But that's definitely nothing we want to argue about upstream at current point in time :-( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221714 ------- Comment #8 from ke@novell.com 2006-11-17 04:59 MST ------- @#6: "obsolete" is quite common in those contexts in the open source world.
