The partiton layout I desire
I try to setup two dozen of machines in a student lab. So I started working
with autoyast. The machines have to be dual boot with Windows XP on the first
70GB (9140cyl) primary partition. I've created a partitioning section in the
profile but autoyast messes it up.
First I tried two partitions (windows and boot, see the attached
Partitions.xml).
Instead of 70G+149M I got 75G+75G. I discovered the bug is in autopart.ycp from
the autoyast package. The mess is introduced in normalize_gaps because the
"want_cyl" parameter isn't set in add_cylinder_info unless the sizes of
partitions are given as percentages or maxsize is defined. So I set the maxsize
of the partitions to cylinder-size*partition-size (second region_entry). I
worked, however, I consider it a bug to have to give the maxsize.
Then I added the other three partitions. For an unknown reason the
weighting/normalizing mechanism is triggered and I get some completely stupid
results like: windows partition about 30G, two extended partitions, one of them
about 70G but empty and the other 32G containing the two logical partitons.
I don't know the scripting language yast is written in but from what I could
understand I can tell that region tags should be translated to gaps without any
modifications and normalizations.
