[Bug 332174] New: xserver does not restore proper resolution when returning from suspend to disk on Centrino notebooks with incomplete video bios
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332174 Summary: xserver does not restore proper resolution when returning from suspend to disk on Centrino notebooks with incomplete video bios Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jsj@jsj.dyndns.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- when using i810 xorg driver on notebooks with incomplete video bios - where 915resolution or /etc/init.d/boot.videobios is needed to achieve a resolution of for instance 1400x1050 - the systems comes back from swsuspend to disk with a resolution of 1280x1024 and a virtual res. of 1400x1050. If one checks with 915resolution -l immediately, the configured mode of 1400x1050 exists. Killing the X server starts a new server with the full resolution. I see, that there is the call to /etc/init.d/boot.videobios in the thaw-hooks executed, but the X server seems to either not care about or is too fast in re-starting. S2D worked in elder versions of openSUSE. In the special case - a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E4010 - the use of the intel xorg server is no option due to the flickering display with that server. I had the same problem with a Dell Latitude D505, but choosing the intel driver worked there as circumvention of the above problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In the special case - a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E4010 - the use of the intel xorg server is no option due to the flickering display with that server. I'm still interested into fixing this issue. I'm currently waiting for feedback from your side. Switching from i810 to intel and back to help investigate this issue can get a nightmare for you ...
