[Bug 581339] New: Encrypted home isn't mounted during install
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=581339 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=581339#c0 Summary: Encrypted home isn't mounted during install Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 2 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jeffm@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Development Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=343539) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=343539) y2logs I have a system with an encrypted home (just the LV, not the entire VG). Previous versions of openSUSE had trouble setting up the encrypted home automatically, so this is a step forward. Unfortunately, during the boot, it doesn't actually mount /home. There is a popup (attached) that says that /home is setup but not mounted and asks if I would like to continue anyway. The luks device is already set up and dropping to a shell and doing just "mount /home" works ok. The installation continues normally after that. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That should have been fixed, see bug #456004. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I entered the password. IIRC it may have said something about the device being busy - but perhaps that was from the initrd? So maybe it's a case of the specific command to enable the volume failing but the volume is still set up just the same. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is a mount point for the directory /home, which is used a a default home dir for new users, but this dir is not currently mounted. If you add new users using the default values their home dirs will be created in the current /home. This can result in their dirs not being accessible after you mount correctly. Continue??...Yes or No. I one time said yes and another said no. (took 4 tries on the install) Haven't gotten a valid working 11.3 Milestone 4 system yet, so I have nothing further to report on it. It died on the last install when I tried to use the nVidia Xorg selection. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
