When the configuration is applied the firewall is disabled. In french: QUand on synchronise l'horloge avec un serveur NTP, que l'on configure le deamon NTP, une fois qu'on a cliqué sur le bouton terminé, le firewall est désactivé C'est donc une erreur critique. Then, for some reason, SuSEFirewall module thinks that fw service has not been started before (even though it was) and thus it stops and does not start again. And, as I wrote above, it does not happen with standalone ntp-client module. Something, somewhere stops the firewall and I'm not aware that it would be something in my code. Firewall settings, but also ntp related stuff from sysconfig is left behind. Thus, some variables are not initialized and it confuses SuSEFirewall. It thinks it has not been started before, even though it was So I patched the proposal to call full NtpClient::Read() on the running system, but process ntp.conf only during installation. Seems to fix the problem of stopped firewall, but I cannot test if it does not break the installation at the moment. Moreover, a new functionality (fate #302917) appeared in the module since this bug was reported. Anyway, this belongs to the new maintainer now.
