[Bug 210258] New: The "yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2.noarch.rpm" on the update server depends on "unzip"!?
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210258 Summary: The "yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2.noarch.rpm" on the update server depends on "unzip"!? Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dolsson@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: hagen.dufner@sgi.com Our partner SGI here at SAP complained about that the automagically updating on his desktop complained about not being able to install the RPM packages "yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2.noarch.rpm" and "libzypp-1.3.2-0.6.i586.rpm". When having had a closer look on the "yast2-installation" RPM package, I found that it depends on "unzip", which is not only not installed on the desktop system is not even available in SUSE LINUX 10.1! # rpm -qp "yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2.noarch.rpm" --requires yast2 yast2-update yast2-storage yast2-mouse yast2-country yast2-bootloader yast2-packager >= 2.13.135 yast2-pkg-bindings >= 2.13.86 yast2-network yast2-users curl release-notes autoyast2-installation yast2-online-update unzip <======================= What is this about??? fillup coreutils /bin/sh /bin/sh rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1 rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 /bin/sh rpmlib(PayloadIsBzip2) <= 3.0.5-1 # This dependency means that this packages cannot be installed. Apparently while "libzypp" is depended on the yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2" the updating complains about this one, too. The desktop system is using the URL "http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/update/10.1/" as source for the updates. The above output comes from the RPM package found at the URL: http://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.1/rpm/noarch/yast2-installation-2.13.... When can we expect to have a fixed "yast2-installation" RPM package that does not depend on the non existing program "unzip"? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210258 andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de ------- Comment #1 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-05 09:55 MST ------- See bug 195911. "unzip" is not in the online update source because it has not been updated since the initial release. It is on the installation media (CD/DVD or http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source). The missing dependency means that the media the system has been installed from is not configured as an installation source. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210258 ------- Comment #2 from dolsson@novell.com 2006-10-05 10:47 MST ------- Well that is the problem, while YaST2 has been set up to use the CDs as installation media, and I have verified that this still was the case. When entering YaST2 -> Software Management -> "unzip" search, you end up with no hits - aka. no "unzip" available (thus my initial comment on "unzip" not being in SL 10.1). This is also what I can read out of the "zmd-backend.log" log file -- The resolver tries to find the "unzip" program/package but fails, thus failing the update of "yast2-installation" altogether. Anyway, thanks for the input -- I will check up on this on Monday, and return with an update of my findings on the system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210258 dolsson@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |CLOSED ------- Comment #5 from dolsson@novell.com 2006-11-15 09:52 MST ------- Well, the reason for now response has been that I have been in NBG, and not @ SAP. Anyway, the problem has disappeared automagically during the last update that Hagen tried to do -- For some unknown reason(s) the RPM packages "yast2-installation-2.13.132.9-0.2.noarch.rpm" and "libzypp-1.3.2-0.6.i586.rpm" got installed without any issues, when he did the last update, where other packages were installed as well. So, closing the ticket for good. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
