[Bug 280975] New: kpdf; title send to print-system has broken umlauts.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280975 Summary: kpdf; title send to print-system has broken umlauts. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: felix@derklecks.de QAContact: qa@suse.de With one of the recent (last month) updates the title send to the print-system was changed from "KDE Print System" to the title of the Document. But it does not work with umlauts. Every "ü" for example is converted to the string " 77777703 77777674". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280975 ------- Comment #8 from felix@derklecks.de 2007-06-06 15:24 MST ------- I just did a test-print with windows. In Kjobviewer the "ä" shows up as two squares but the job-name in the ipp-journal does display an "ä". So i do not know what is the best solution. The original problem was that because of the long number string most of the title was truncated ... So either converted and "ä" to "ae" and so on or just delete them?? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

With Windows the "ä" gets transformed into " 77777744". The problem is as kpdf uses the pdf-title now, I am not even able to change it. ;) I wouldn't mind closing this report, but I wonder how an russian or other non-ascii pdf-title would print out ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Printed from Windows it looks correct in the IPP-Journal one can see in KJobViewer, but the printed banner still is not showing an "ä" but 77777744. At least in Windows the wrong string is shorter and therefore there is a better chance of some useful character getting printed on the banner. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
