I doubt it could be of some help to fix the issue, but, having the very same error on a freshly installed openSUSE 12.2 x86_64, I found a workaround by reverting wvstreams package (Version: 4.4.1-81.1.3) to wvstreams-4.4.1-76.1.2 from openSUSE 12.1 official release. Could it be something went wrong while recompiling for openSUSE 12.2 & new gcc version? Verified that this workaround works for my 12.2 install - thanks!. I also rebuilt the wvstreams src rpm on my 12.2 host then installed that rpm but got the same bug. So although it seems like it might be a build issue (from other bug reports wrt to this error on other distros) it doesn't look like a simple rebuild of the src rpm on 12.2 fixes it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is there an easy way to perform this reversion? Took me a while to find all the packages I had to install at once. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779386 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=779386#c7 --- Comment #7 from Fabio Scl <fa0sck@gmail.com> 2012-09-22 10:09:46 UTC --- Created an attachment (id=506672) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=506672) an attempt to patch wvtask.h and wvtask.cc inside wvstreams-4.4.1 I noticed at Fadora they had a similar problem with their libwvstreams package (fedora 18 and gcc 4.7.1). They patched two files: include/wvtask.h and include/wvtask.cc inside wvstreams source, by modifying the variable magic_number. I tried to recompile wvstreams with this patch too (of course updating the file spec accordingly), then I rebuilt wvdial against the new wvstream-devel package: the error reported disappears but now wvdial crashes with seg fault. So, alas, there's something missing, or a failed attempt. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As suggested there, I removed some compile optimizations (by passing those cxxflags: -fno-tree-dce -fno-optimize-sibling-calls to gcc) and wvdial now is just working, at least for me (tested with wvdial 1.60-76.1.2 directly taken from openSUSE-12.2-Oss repo) Please test (if you wish) by installing wvstreams from here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries?package=wvstreams&project=home%3Afabio_s%3Abranches%3AopenSUSE%3A12.2%3AUpdate&repository=standard (should some issue arise I have wvstreams-4.4.1-magic.patch still to apply, if needed) Regards, and I hope it works (well) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
