Usually it's something about docking station. Is your system with a dock?
No. The only external device always connected to this system is a wireless mouse dongle (USB2.0 A port) and on occasions the system gets connected to a power supply (power-in-port NOT the thunderbolt port). However the error persists even if the system runs on battery without the mouse dongle connected.
Also, is it a regression by the recent kernel update? Or did the problem appear in the past, too?
This is a rather new (~ 3 weeks old) customers machine. As far as I know this is the first time openSUSE is installed on it. I never used it with another kernel but 6.11.8-1-default.
Please give the full dmesg output and the output of hwinfo, too.
As this is not my machine I would prefer to provide more specific information (in order to have a better control on what I give away). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

When I boot my computer with snapshot openSUSE Tumbleweed 20241117, no errors appear on boot. When I boot with snapshot openSUSE Tumbleweed 20241118, I get the error ucsi_acpi USECAAA:A8: error -ETIMEDOUT: PPM init failed. AND there is a 30 second delay in boot. I thought the first error (ucsi_acpi USECAAA:A8:...) was causing the delay, but it seems to be Bug 1233532 - plymouth-start.service: Failed to start Show Plymouth Boot Screen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The message about ucsi_acpi is likely harmless, per se.
Good to hear ! Would you mind to give some more details on what the message is about? Because I never had a machine with a thunderbolt port and no equipment to test the functionality of that port I suspected the message to be related to thunderbolt ports in some way. Is that correct? If not is it related to USB at all? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
