Anyway I suggest to add this test -e /proc/splash && echo verbose > /proc/splash before running "sax2 -a -r" and a test -e /proc/splash && echo silent > /proc/splash afterwards to the live system. You'll see some flickering during sax2 start anyway due to the Xserver probing it does. It would be interesting if this issue only occurs with this intel graphics based Samsung X20 laptop. It could be even related to Bug #327064 since some VT switching is involved when SaX2 is started. Marcus, would it be possible to summarize in which cases Xserver probing is done by SaX2?
