[Bug 803427] New: My system tried to update to openSuse 12.3, even though 12.3 isn't out yet.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803427 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803427#c0 Summary: My system tried to update to openSuse 12.3, even though 12.3 isn't out yet. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: brian.miller@jfs.ohio.gov QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 When I started my laptop this evening, the updater reported that there were some updates. I though the 1,000+ seemed a little high, but had never had problems before. So I started the update. It was actually installing updates, and then hung on one particular program (I'm sorry, I don't remember which one). After I stopped the updater, I rebooted. The system no reports that it is booting OpenSuse 12.3. According to your web page, that isn't due to be released yet. Why are you updating my perfectly good system to a Release Candidate???? I'm running a 64-bit version. The system will not come up to run level 5. It sort of comes up to run level 3. I can manually start the networking service, but it does not get an IP addresses from my DHCP server. (Normally, I use network manager to connect to a wireless netowrk). When I try to manually assign an IP address to my wired NIC through yast, it keeps telling me that it needs to install smppd. My system now tells me that I am at OpenSuse 13.1, "Bottle" Milestone 0. My auto update should have been pointing to the OpenSuse 12.2 update repositories. I think your repositories have been corrupted. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Kind of hard to reproduce a broken upgrade. 2. 3. Actual Results: see above. Note that I could probably grab some log files out of the system, if you need them. But I suspect the issue is at one of the update sites. My location is Columbus, OH, on the Road Runner network. So I don't know which site my system connected to. Note that I also have a desktop system running OpenSuse 12.2, 64-bit. It is only reporting 5 needed updates. I think I verified the updates a couple of days ago on it. (I think I will defer making these updates, though.) Expected Results: I don't think I should have been upgraded to 13.1. Isn't 12.3 the next version out?
