[Bug 1087946] New: Broadcom-wl from packman does not configure with leap 15 build 187.1
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1087946 Bug ID: 1087946 Summary: Broadcom-wl from packman does not configure with leap 15 build 187.1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: tjcw@physics.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have a laptop computer which requires the broadcom and broadcom-wl rpms from the packman repository to drive its wireless card. This works with Leap 42.3 . I have just installed Leap 15 build 187.1 (on an external disk), and downloaded the wireless driver from the packman repo (using a USB wifi adapter which is supported by the kernel). Attempting to configure wireless access with the broadcom driver results in a prompt for the wireless password but a failure to connect. I see the following message in 'dmesg': [ 764.465325] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 764.465377] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 860 at ../net/wireless/sme.c:941 cfg80211_roamed+0x145/0x160 [cfg80211] [ 764.465379] Modules linked in: ccm arc4 rt2800usb rt2x00usb rt2800lib rt2x00lib mac80211 fuse cmac rfcomm xt_tcpudp ip6t_rpfilter ip6t_REJECT ipt_REJECT xt_conntrack ip_set nfnetlink ebtable_nat ebtable_broute bridge stp llc af_packet ip6table_nat nf_conntrack_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_nat_ipv6 ip6table_mangle ip6table_raw ip6table_security iptable_nat nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_defrag_ipv4 nf_nat_ipv4 nf_nat nf_conntrack libcrc32c iptable_mangle iptable_raw iptable_security ebtable_filter ebtables ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter ip_tables x_tables bnep nls_iso8859_1 nls_cp437 vfat fat uvcvideo btusb videobuf2_vmalloc btrtl videobuf2_memops btbcm btintel videobuf2_v4l2 videobuf2_core bluetooth ecdh_generic ses enclosure scsi_transport_sas videodev edac_mce_amd kvm_amd kvm irqbypass crct10dif_pclmul [ 764.465451] crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel msr pcbc aesni_intel aes_x86_64 toshiba_acpi sparse_keymap snd_hda_codec_conexant snd_hda_codec_generic snd_hda_codec_hdmi wl(PO) snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_timer toshiba_bluetooth crypto_simd glue_helper cryptd rtsx_pci_ms memstick sp5100_tco industrialio cfg80211 rfkill r8169 mii snd battery ccp wmi shpchp acpi_cpufreq soundcore i2c_piix4 fam15h_power k10temp pcspkr joydev thermal video ac button i2c_scmi amdgpu btrfs xor raid6_pq uas usb_storage hid_generic usbhid sr_mod cdrom rtsx_pci_sdmmc serio_raw amdkfd amd_iommu_v2 crc32c_intel sdhci_pci sdhci mmc_core radeon i2c_algo_bit drm_kms_helper syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt fb_sys_fops ttm xhci_pci ehci_pci xhci_hcd ahci ehci_hcd drm usbcore libahci drm_panel_orientation_quirks [ 764.465548] rtsx_pci sg dm_multipath dm_mod scsi_dh_rdac scsi_dh_emc scsi_dh_alua efivarfs [ 764.465564] CPU: 0 PID: 860 Comm: wl_event_handle Tainted: P W O 4.12.14-lp150.7-default #1 openSUSE Leap 15.0 (unreleased) [ 764.465566] Hardware name: TOSHIBA SATELLITE L50D-B/Larne, BIOS 1.60 12/11/2014 [ 764.465569] task: ffff88021d24e000 task.stack: ffffc90001530000 [ 764.465604] RIP: 0010:cfg80211_roamed+0x145/0x160 [cfg80211] [ 764.465607] RSP: 0018:ffffc90001533e48 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 764.465611] RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: ffffc90001533e80 RCX: 0000000000000012 [ 764.465613] RDX: 0000000000000002 RSI: 00000000fffffe01 RDI: ffffffffa05d3ba7 [ 764.465615] RBP: 00000000014000c0 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 [ 764.465617] R10: ffffc90001533db0 R11: 0000000000000064 R12: ffff880222a34c00 [ 764.465619] R13: ffff880225eac300 R14: dead000000000200 R15: dead000000000100 [ 764.465623] FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff88022ec00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 764.465625] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 764.465628] CR2: 0000555f19bb2018 CR3: 0000000224570000 CR4: 00000000000406f0 [ 764.465630] Call Trace: [ 764.465724] wl_notify_roaming_status+0xdb/0x150 [wl] [ 764.465801] wl_event_handler+0x73/0x1e0 [wl] [ 764.465878] ? wl_notify_scan_status+0x300/0x300 [wl] [ 764.465884] kthread+0x11a/0x130 [ 764.465890] ? kthread_create_on_node+0x40/0x40 [ 764.465895] ? do_syscall_64+0x7b/0x140 [ 764.465901] ? I think you need to report the bug to the maintainer of the kernel module on packman side.
