[Bug 376319] New: error loading ClassicClockApplet ...
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=376319 Summary: error loading ClassicClockApplet ... Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmeeks@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: federico@novell.com Found By: --- The upgrade experience is less slick than it could be: logging in I get: "The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClassicClockApplet". "Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?" This seems rather unnecessary (to me). Surely we can make the new/cool intlclock claim to implement the same OAFIID, such that it just silently replaces the old clock applet (?) or is some other upgrade path planned ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That's... weird. Is this really true? I mean, it must be true since you have the problem. I've already patched the clock applet for migration (so that it supports the OAFIID for Intlclock), so it's easy to do the same for this. But I'm so surprised we renamed the OAFIID for the upstream applet... Did you upgrade from 10.3? Do you still have a 10.3 box? If yes, can you tell me the various OAFIID you have for all the clocks? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just run SLED10 and add a "Classic Clock" applet to the panel: <gconf>

<stringvalue>bonobo-applet</stringvalue>

<stringvalue>OAFIID:GNOME_ClassicClockApplet</stringvalue>

<stringvalue>panel_0</stringvalue>
</gconf> Perhaps that was a SLED10 patch/rename such that people were silently upgraded to the 'IntlClock' applet (?). If so, I guess (since we have no 'classic' clock anymore) - we should also upgrade them to the new IntlClock (?) Why was I using the classic clock anyway ? - the other one was crashing the panel (an e-d-s bug apparently now fixed).
