[Bug 757192] New: Kmail - using filters on messages creates a loop with continuously duplicating messages
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=757192 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=757192#c0 Summary: Kmail - using filters on messages creates a loop with continuously duplicating messages Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: stakanov@freenet.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 This happens with my very mail account I use here (stakanov@freenet.de). The settings are SSL/TLS port 993, every 5 minutes check, password cram. Now, also selected (although I do not think this is the issue): check manually, go offline mode when closing and "control at startup". If you create on your local machine a folder (let us call it bugzilla) and filter the messages that arrive telling to displace them into this folder, this will happen but the very message will be regarded as new and discharged over and over again, filtered and displaced again and again, filling the box up, even if it is just one. Workaround: deactivate the filtering stops the problem (but you have a clutter box). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create an IMAP mail account 2. create locally on your machine a new folder for incoming mail 3. create a filter for a specific sender or object and tell to put the mail into this dedicated folder. Actual Results: mail is discharged and filtered correctly but the IMAP server thinks a) the message is still new b) the message still has to be discharged c) the message will be discharged, displaced and discharged again and again in an eternal loop, filling your mailbox. Expected Results: IMAP should be aware the message was displaced into the dedicated folder, do the same on the server and stop duplicating. The "eliminate duplicate messages" functions works perfectly, thank you. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

--- Comment #2 from Stakanov Schufter
I guess this is caused by https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279087 which is fixed for KDE 4.8.0
Well, I would think so too, because the bug you referred to makes specific reference to the problem in 4.7.2. This raises the question on whether one should close the bug as "won't fix"? This because I am not well informed about the back-port policy in respect to the 4.7.2 stable KDE from 12.1. Those bugs claimed to be fixed in 4.8, is there hope for a back-port? This is not a rhetorical question as I personally prefer for my "working horse" to stay on the stable KDE repos "as of delivery" and security updates. I have seen that some issues may happen changing versions (I have other machines were I do occasionally experiment with this. And yes by reading the bug it is exactly what happens. Thank you for informing me about the fix happened in 4.8. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
