Additionally, no branding and customizations are possible here. Here is a possible idea to fix it: Scripts in /etc/gnome-session-init.d/*.sh If script returns 0, it will be started never more. If script returns 1, it will be started next time again. .. And something, which would allow to update desktop file after distro upgrade or packages removal. These scripts may be a part of particular packages or directly of gnome-session. Somewhere in home directory there will be a list of succeeded scripts. Yes. I think we should fix this for "real" as part of: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308457 and as part of the gnome-session rewrite upstream.
