https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=397997 Summary: Funciton F8/Scroll Lock F8 on dell laptops to switch to external monitor not working. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell@rvp.endjunk.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Function - F8 is used by several models of Dell laptop to switch to the external monitor when docked. ( scroll lock - f8 works on the external keyboard the same way ) On the Inspiron 4000/ Dell Latitude C500/C600 series laptops using the 32 bit livecd even after installing to hard drive and docking the pc they do not work. This makes it impossible to use the laptop while docked. These keys worked fine under opensuse 10.3. The laptop in question only had a cd drive and so is unable to install via the full dvd version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Additionally the screen flickers as if the system is trying to switch to an external monitor. When docked I can open the top of the laptop about a 1/2 inch and pressing scroll lock f8 apparently does not cause a similar flicker from what I can tell...I got two long pens and managed to hit function f8 on the laptop keyboard while docked with the lid open...it also did not appear to cause the flicker and didn't work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
