Have a look at the outdated mail http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-Dec/2640.html For openSUSE 10.2 see "man udev" and /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules It works for me with a default installation of openSUSE 10.2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

In /etc/cups/cupsd.conf the user is set to lp the group is set to sys but the owner of /dev/lp0 is root and the group is lp After changing the group in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf to lp the printer works ok. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231099 ------- Comment #5 from jsmeix@novell.com 2007-01-02 08:14 MST ------- I don't have a user or group in my /etc/cups/cupsd.conf which is the out-of-the-box file for openSUSE 10.2. We had user and group in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf up to Suse Linux 10.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ User lp Group lp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (where we had CUPS version 1.1.x) but as far as I remember we never had the group set to "sys". Since openSUSE 10.2 we have CUPS version 1.2.x which is different here (e.g. RunAsUser is no longer supported so that the cupsd runs as root) so that an old cupsd.conf may cause whatever unexpected problems, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230326#c2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I close this one as a duplicate of bug #227205 even if it is not a duplicate of the original problem described in bug #227205 but it is caused because we made broken CUPS update packages public available because of bug #227205. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 227205 *** -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
