After selecting Ekiga Softphone an untitled message box displays: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Error while opening video device ViewSonic 1.3M, USB2.0 Webcam A moving logo will be transmitted during calls. Notice that you can always transmit a given image or the moving logo by choosing "Picture" as video plugin and "MovingLogo" or "StaticPicture" as device. Your video driver doesn't support the requested video format. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ekiga Preferences-Devices-Video Devices show: Video Plugin V4l Input Device Viewsonic 1.3M, USB2.0 Webcam Format PAL I get the above error msg on any format. Channel 0 I get the above error msg on any channel Data from dmesg shows: uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device ViewSonic 1.3M, USB2.0 Webcam (04f2:b021) input: ViewSonic 1.3M, USB2.0 Webcam as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-3/2-3:1.0/input/input5 usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo USB Video Class driver (SVN r200) I currently multi boot with Mandriva 2008.1 free and Fedora 9, both x86_64. I have tested Ekiga under those and it works. Also it works under Sabayon 3.5 x86_64 in live mode. I note one difference. I had to figure out that the V4L2 plugin had yet to be installed. I believe that the V4L2 plugin should be installed with Ekiga or a notation to the end user to that effect.
