The problem is that there are many such files, and they are typically very small, so the progress bar is simply jumping from 0% to 100% and back all the time. This is not very useful progress information IMHO. Much more useful would be a single progress bar for the whole set of files to be downloaded (or maybe one progress bar per repository, whatever is easier.)
