[Bug 894298] New: Boot fails after recent upgrade: "Dependency failed for /home"
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=894298 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=894298#c0 Summary: Boot fails after recent upgrade: "Dependency failed for /home" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lassi.vaatamoinen@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_4) AppleWebKit/537.78.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0.6 Safari/537.78.2 After the recent upgrade of openSUSE 13.1 the booting fails with message "[DEPEND] Dependency failed for /home" and "[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Local File Systems". After these messages user gets prompted for "Welcome to emergency mode! After logging in..." repeatedly. I am able to boot the system when /home mount is removed from /etc/fstab, by using a Live CD or Rescue system from the install disc. Looks like this might be related to bug 827104 and bug 826528, *but* removing the udev rule /usr/lib/udev/61-mfst.rules and rebuilding initrd ('mkinitrd') did not fix the issue. The /, /home and swap partition are LVM partitions. / and swap get mounted fine, /home fails. Looking at the LVM information with lvdisplay, for swap and / it says "LV status available", but for /home the status is "NOT available" and there is no "LV creation host, time" -information. Root and swap partitions show the creation date properly. Also, the LV path /dev/home/home is not being created on the installed system, so I cannot mount it manually after boot. On the "Rescue System" from installation CD the /dev/home/home node is created, and I can mount it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Do a clean install. /and /home as LVM volumes and BTRFS formatted 2. Upgrade to latest openSUSE 13.1 packages 3. Reboot Actual Results: System does not boot, stops at "[DEPEND] Dependency failed for /home" Expected Results: System boots up normally, with /home mounted Kernel version 3.11.10-21-desktop -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
