[Bug 270138] New: Please include a newer fuse kernel module
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=270138
Summary: Please include a newer fuse kernel module
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: bugzilla_opensuse@ojkastl.de
QAContact: qa@suse.de
As both ntfs-3g and fuse are available in the
http://software.opensuse.org/download/filesystems/openSUSE_10.2/ repository, it
would be nice to have a kernel that brings a newer fuse module:
WARNING: Deficient FUSE kernel module detected. Some driver features are
not available (swap file on NTFS, boot from NTFS by LILO), and
unmount is not safe unless it's made sure the ntfs-3g process
naturally terminates after calling 'umount'. The safe FUSE kernel
driver is included in the official Linux kernels since version
2.6.20-rc1, or in the FUSE 2.6.0 or later software packages,
except the faulty FUSE version 2.6.2. Please see the next page
for more help: http://www.ntfs-3g.org/support.html#fuse26
I am using
#rpm -qa fuse
fuse-2.6.3-4.1
#rpm -qa ntfs-3g
ntfs-3g-1.0-2.ccj1
(The same with ntfs-3g 1.328-2.1)
The module says:
======================================================================
#modinfo fuse
filename: /lib/modules/2.6.18.2-34-default/kernel/fs/fuse/fuse.ko
alias: char-major-10-229

Please help testing 10.3 instead! ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=270138 ------- Comment #2 from bugzilla_opensuse@ojkastl.de 2007-05-07 12:10 MST ------- I would say that "unmount is not safe" is a bugfix, and not a new feature. So I would like to see a newer module. Sorry to hear that this is a WONTFIX in your eyes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
