[Bug 327004] New: 915resolution not working
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=327004 Summary: 915resolution not working Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: wilbert.vanbakel@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer HP Omnibook XE3-gf with i810 video chip. The chip is recognized by 915resolution, and I configured a slot for 1440x1050. I also modified the init script /etc/sysconfig/videobios. VIDEOBIOSPATCH="yes" VIDEOBIOS_PARAMETERS="5a 1440x1050" 915resolution -l shows tha the bios patch is performed with success. This works in 10.2, but not in 10.3rc1. I still get 1280x1024. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Well, we knew this before. See comment #4.
But this config specifies an explicit monitor section, which should override any EDID information. Well, the only thing remaining is to add Option "noDDC" to the device section. Though in this case I doubt this works. Even if it does, this indicates to a multitude of intel driver bugs, the most severe one not determining the panel properties correctly. This will *not* enable the external output by default. Thanks for finding out that the framebuffer was responsible. You don't have to feel bad, this *should* work. I will close this as FIXED, as we have to wait for upstream to *really* fix this issue, and that won't happen easily (especially due to the age of the chip). If something else remains, feel free to reopen. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I finally gave up about intel driver support for i830. We'll use i810 again for this old hardware, which is rather untested by Intel developers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
