All machines are multiuser machines using kontact with kolab groupware - adressbooks are saved in a imap ressource on the kolab server. No, the photos are not visible in kadressbook. Even in detail/edit-view they are not visible. I just made an - maybe helpful - investigation: If I open the associated kmail adressbook folder and open the mails containing the kolab xml data and png image attachments then the photos for just these opened contacts turn visible in kaddressbook and even in the kmail headers - as long as kontact is open, but only the photos of contacts from this one opened folder. After shutting down/restarting kontact they are invisible again until I open the kontacts folder/mails in kmail again. This is based on the kdepim enterprise branch. The kolab client code there has changed a lot. Could you try this out with a test machine and your kolab server? (When starting kmail standalone kmail freezes when trying to view a mail, so I couldn't test this part. If I then kill kmail, another instance of kmail + kontact get started. Maybe because kmail needs kaddressbook/kontact because of the photos?)
