[Bug 737793] New: Package Updater: Authentication Failure
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737793 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737793#c0 Summary: Package Updater: Authentication Failure Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xfce AssignedTo: bnc-team-xfce@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: taroth@suse.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Documentation Blocker: --- The XFCE package updater in the system tray fails to fetch the latest updates. When clicking it, reviewing the changes it wants to apply and clicking "Install" it does not prompt for the root password. After some seconds, it shows "Authentication failure". When checking /var/log/messages, I find the following: (packagekitd:2277): PackageKit-Zypp-DEBUG: simulating ray dbus-daemon[817]: (packagekitd:2277): PackageKit-Zypp-DEBUG: zypp_backend_destroy su: The gnome keyring socket is not owned with the same credentials as the user login: /tmp/keyring-xlWfyN/control su: gkr-pam: couldn't unlock the login keyring. I can use YaST Online Update as work-around but I'm wondering why the package updater fails now (it used to work fine with 11.4, prompting me for the root passwd and installing all updates). Let me know if you need any logs or more information. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in openSUSE since the time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a current, supported openSUSE version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly reopen this bug and move it to the tested version of openSUSE. Truly yours. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
