https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204432 aj@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |aj@novell.com ------- Comment #5 from aj@novell.com 2006-09-12 13:08 MST ------- We have: PreReq: mkinitrd >= 1.2 PreReq: coreutils PreReq: perl-Bootloader >= 0.2.20-7 PreReq: rpm But a grep for hwinfo does not mention hwinfo anywhere. Btw. hwinfo does not need libsysfs at all anymore. I'm confused as well. Dirk, why does kernel-default need a dependency on hwinfo - and how will that fix the problem you mentioned in #2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

But you have totally failed to provide a proper bug report, detailing the problem. And in fact, hwinfo is not in the kernel spec file at all, so I can only deduce that this is an invalid bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204432 ------- Comment #7 from dmueller@novell.com 2006-09-13 03:36 MST ------- mkinitrd uses hwinfo, however hwinfo fails because it is still the old version but sysfsutils is already upgrade. so you end up with old hwinfo new sysfsutils new kernel and the post script of the kernel fails because hwinfo crashes which causes mkinitrd to abort, which breaks the whole update. I'm not sure how in more detail I should explain something that is obvious. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204432 ------- Comment #8 from kkeil@novell.com 2006-09-13 03:55 MST ------- OK, but then mkinitrd need the prereq , not the kernel, didn`t it ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204432 ------- Comment #9 from aj@novell.com 2006-09-13 03:59 MST ------- mkinitrd needs a require - and that's missing. Otherwise it woudl have been a bug in y2pmsh which Dirk used and not in the kernel. I'm fixing mkinitrd now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
