[Bug 542754] New: openSUSE Updater Applet prompts wrong version for update
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=542754 Summary: openSUSE Updater Applet prompts wrong version for update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Maintenance AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gfarrell@netspeed.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=320207) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=320207) Screenshot of Available Updates dialog User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-1.2 Firefox/3.5.3 The openSUSE Updater Applet displays a red triangle, prompting that an update is necessary. The applet's dialog shows an update for MozillaFirefox 3.0.14. See attached screenshot. Unfortunately, the version of Firefox installed is MozillaFirefox-3.5.3-1.2 - a much later version of Firefox from the openSUSE Mozilla repository (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1/). Much more unfortunately, there seems to be no way of telling this security alert to go away, so it sits there 'crying wolf' all the time. The only thing I can see that may be causing this is that the update to version 3.0.14-0.1.2 is newer in date/time than the 3.5.3-1.2 version (17 Sep 2009 vs 14 Sep 2009 respectively). The applet seems to ignore the obvious condition - version number - that shows that no update is needed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update MozillaFirefox to version 3.5.3-1.2 from the openSUSE Mozilla repository on 14 Sep 2009. 2. Wait for the openSUSE updates repository to provide an update to MozillaFirefox-3.0.14-0.1.2 on 17 Sep 2009. Actual Results: The updater applet displays a red triangle, prompting for an 'update' to the 'new' version. Expected Results: The actual 'newer' version of 3.5.3-1.2 is detected and the need to prompt for an update is suppressed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
