[Bug 489694] New: Pidgin 2.5.5 from GNOME Factory (and all other GNOME packages from Factory) doesn't save pidgin passwords in accounts.xml

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=489694 Summary: Pidgin 2.5.5 from GNOME Factory (and all other GNOME packages from Factory) doesn't save pidgin passwords in accounts.xml Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ben.kevan@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Opera/10.00 (X11; Linux i686 ; U; en) Presto/2.2.0 Program crashed. You suck! (sorry just wanted to add a bad example).. I upgraded to GNOME 2.26 via factory openSUSE 11.1 repository, which includes pidgin 2.5.5. to my dismay now when I launch pidgin it doesn't save my password in accounts.xml.. also to my dismay if I manually add <password>something</password> under account information it gets stripped when I launch it, and again I have to add my password... and still will not save.. Kind of a bummer.. I haven't down graded pidgin to see if it's pidgin 2.5.5's fault.. but I have a inclination that it's possibly the gnome keyring.. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Pidgin Actual Results: Asks for password (doesn't save it) Expected Results: Save password -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It does save it there and it works. I'd suspect a gkr issue, so can you check to see if gnome-keyring-daemon is running when this happens. Also, what do you mean with "and all other GNOME packages from Factory"? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I run both GNOME and KDE but typically run in KDE which is where I saw this issue (so my guess would be that the gnome-keyring was not running. I'll have to retest as i've downgraded from GNOME 2.26 to 2.24 and the password is saved again (so I don't think it's a patch per say to pidgin, but to gnome-keyring? I'll upgrade to factory pidgin to see what behavior I get (while keeping GNOME 2.24). However I also installed the community pidgin packages with 2.26 and had the same behavior, and downgrading to 2.24 seemed to fix it .. So, once you update, and if the problem persists, let us know the output of; grep pam_gnome_keyring /etc/pam.d/* ps aux|grep gnome-keyring-daemon -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
