What exactly happens, if you set any visual screen saver? Will you see screensaver animation after 4 minutes? Or you will get only a blank screen after 4 minutes?
Blank screen. Took longer than 4 minutes, though.
Or only backlight will off after 4 minutes?
Backlight stays on.
Or display suspend is activated then? (It may be a bit hard to discriminate the last three states.)
No clue. How do I tell?
What report "xset q", sections Screen Saver and DPMS (Energy Star)?
Screen Saver: prefer blanking: yes allow exposures: yes timeout: 600 cycle: 600 DPMS (Energy Star): Standby: 0 Suspend: 0 Off: 0 DPMS is Enabled Monitor is On --- This is particularly annoying when running full-screen flash video (Hulu, Amazon Video Library), which IIRC, disabled the screensaver altogether on 11.1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess that it is not gnome-screensaver, but X screen-saver mode, which blanks your screen. It is set to 10 minutes (probably in /etc/X11/xorg.conf).
Try:
xset s off
xset command resolved the issue. Curious how it got set, why its not consistent with gnome? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
