Both packages offer libgd.so.3()(64bit). Which one? I am not aware of any maintenance update for libgd3/gd.

Both packages offer libgd.so.3()(64bit).

The Leap 42.1 openSUSE-release package provides "weakremover(libgd3)" which wasn't executed by the "zypper dup" from openSUSE 13.2 to openSUSE Leap 42.1.

The update conflict was visible only with the CLI "zypper update".
The Plasma 5 Widget "Software Updates" simply gave up with a non-specific error
indication.

Because libgd3 is only required by gd-devel (not needed by me) and contains
only libgd.so.3, removing the package allowed the "Graphics" update to execute
without any further issues, albeit only via the CLI.

I had to execute "pkcon get-updates" to clear the Package Manager Widget.

but gd from 42.1 was not. gd from graphics repository is certainly splitted. So you have subscribed two conflicting repositories in this regard, as gd from graphics is splitted (libgd3 subpackage provides the library) but gd from leap repository is not (gd subpackage provides the library).

I guess not much I can do.

OK. I only need the Graphics Repository for RawTherapee and can therefore live with the Leap 42.1 "weakremover(libgd3)" which in my case didn't remove the no longer needed 13.2 library. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Dominique seems to be maintainer of openSUSE-release package, I have no idea how weakremover works.

Dominique: if you think I should fix something on gd side, just reassign back.

ACtually, there is nothing to be fixed - as you noted already, the layout of gd3 in graphics is not compatible with the layout in the distro. (the fact that gd was not split in 42.1 is because it uses the SLE package) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
