It is probably useful to know which kernel versions you use in OpenSuse and Ubuntu. Could you install the kernel from OpenSuse 12.1 to see if it is fixed there? You can do that after importing its repositories. Remember to disable them later if you don't want to dist-upgrade. You could also compile the latest from kernel.org. Take the /proc/config.gz from the best-working kernel (Ubuntu), unpack it to .config in the source directory, make oldconfig, make. Then google how to install your new kernel, I never remember it. BTW, I have seen USB transfers getting _progressively_ slower in OpenSuse 12.1, (in fact the whole system slows down) but you are seeing constant speeds, right? In other words, my bug (bug 741485) isn't related to yours, is it? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As it says, this update should solve your problem. If not, please reopen. You may use the kernel from openSUSE 12.1, as mentioned. Reassigning to product openSUSE 12.1 since the suspected hugepage issue also appears in this more recent distro (according to the 2 duplicate reports). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Installed Kernel Of The Day (3.5rc6): 20MB/s as expected. Sounds to me like the fix that was applied to the -1.9.1 kernel was overwritten on a src merge. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I sent a large series just a few days ago that affects this type of problem. It's queued for merging to 3.0-stable and expected to be picked up for 3.2-stable and 3.3-stable if it passes review. If that completes upstream review, I'll push the same series to openSUSE and see where we stand. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I pushed the same patches to the openSUSE 12.1 branch for kernel 3.1 and should alleviate the problem a bit. There are yet another set of patches that are merged to 3.4 that alleviate the problem further but there are problems with that series that I've posted a prototype set of fixes for. When that gets completed I'll go through the same process again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Closing this bug for now and future tests should be based on 3.10 or later kernels. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
