[Bug 465123] New: Fixed version of kipi-plugins still not in repos
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465123 Summary: Fixed version of kipi-plugins still not in repos Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: klei6b05@uni-trier.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- According to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165370 version 0.1.6 of kipi-plugins fixes the there described bug that blocks every manual geotagging of images in digiKam. Unfortunately this version of RPM package kipi-plugin still isn't avaliable in the openSuse repositories for YaST usage. With opensuse 11.1 I find kde4-kipi-plugins 0.2beta3-1.21 kipi-plugins 0.1.5-65.13 digiKam uses only the (KDE3-)kipi-plugins and don't care about the KDE4 package. I can't find any RPM repository with the fixed kipi-plugins 0.1.6 that I urgently need for my work with digiKam. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

"Still"? You wonder why a version that was released after the distro release is not included? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I assumed that the sense in online repositories is to offer updated and bugfixed versions of the packages to the users. So what's wrong with waiting for the fixed version in the repository? Do I have to wait half a year for openSuse 11.2. to be able to continue my interrupted (in october(!)) work with digiKam? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In the meantime you could already use newer kde4 digikam and kipi plugins, from KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The bug is still there in digikam. How long does it take until your update is visible in the repositories? My repositories in YaST are: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/non-oss/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:10.3/standard/ http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/src-oss/suse/ http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/ http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/10.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Backports/openSUSE_10.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_10.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_10... Now I have installed kipi-plugins 0.1.6-3.1 and libkipi 0.1.6-3.1 But digikam seems only to recognize the 0.1.5 version of kipi. It's telling this in the about and in the preferences dialogs ("Using Kipi library version 0.1.5").
