If there are dependencies (e.g. "SomeOtherPattern conflicts: graphics") that cause a problem with the current set of selected patterns, the dependency resolver might have to change the status of one of the involved patterns. This might mean that your mouse click tries to set the pattern to "install", then dependencies are resolved, and in this process the status of this pattern is immediately reverted to "don't install". Since you made an explicit user selection, this should have priority over automatically selected patterns or packages, though. At the very least, the dependency resolver should report a dependency problem so the user can see what is wrong (and possibly choose between several sceanarios which one he likes best).
