[Bug 341699] New: incorrect font rendering in ooo's ui
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=341699 Summary: incorrect font rendering in ooo's ui Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: eward@novell.com ReportedBy: smshUA@sh.org.ua QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Openoffice has incorrent rendering (some verical lines added) of some symbols (I found 2 yet: english "r" and 1 russian symbol, see screenshot) only in UI (e.g. in menus and edit boxes, not in document's body). Font appearance can be okay if I turn off "font smoothing" in ooo's view options, but then fonts became ugly. I have agfa-fonts installed in my system, but their remove and reboot doesn't solve this problem. See screenshot for details. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don’t mean that that the hardware is broken, I mean that the graphics driver for this type of hardware has bugs. I’ve seen just the problem you describe on machines using ATI cards here as well and if the problem you see has the same cause, it will go away if you set the "norenderaccel" option. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Fonts of all KDE apps, all GTK apps Roman Shevtsov> look beautiful, but why openoffice has artifacts? These artifacts appear only at certain sizes and certain rendering options. Maybe the fonts you see in KDE and GTK have a slighly different size. OpenOffice also doesn’t use the system settings for the rendering options, for example if the system default settings use hintstyle=hintfull¹, OpenOffice might use hintstyle=hintnone. Just an example, but as OpenOffice overrides the system settings, some differences are to be expected. Footnote: ¹ in a fontconfig setup file a rule to set hintstyle=hintfull might look like this: <match target="font" > <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle" > <const>hintfull</const> </edit> </match> -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
