[Bug 573191] New: Udev Fails To Properly Initialize Floppy Drive Node
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573191 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573191#c0 Summary: Udev Fails To Properly Initialize Floppy Drive Node Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: d_k@linuxmail.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 There is a bug in the UDEV package used in openSUSE 11.2 where udev is version 146. The program “create floppy devices” does not appear to be working properly. Two arguments, the group and mode functions, do not work. The two major rules for the floppy are contained in 50-default: KERNEL=="fd[0-9]", GROUP="floppy" KERNEL=="fd[0-9]", ACTION=="add", ATTRS{cmos}=="?*", RUN+="create_floppy_devices -c -t $attr{cmos} -m %M -M 0640 -G floppy $root/%k" Changing the M or G arguments of create floppy devices does not change the permissions or group of the /dev/fd0 device node. The system appears to use the first rule where GROUP=”floppy” to control the group. Changing the value there will cause changes in the group. Adding a MODE command there will also change the mode. Otherwise the system appears to be using the udev default mode of 0660 when creating the device node. p.s. I do not understand the purpose of two rules when the create program should be handling everything in the first rule. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Changing the option arguments to create floppy devices produces no change on the /dev/fd0 node permissions. Changing the first rule parameters does change the /dev/fd0 node permissions. Do not know the results if the first rule is removed entirely. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
