https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255226 ------- Comment #1 from mboman@novell.com 2007-03-15 20:35 MST ------- More missing packages from the enhanced_base pattern mcelog numactl In another pattern, gnome_basis-pattern, the following packages are missing; gnome-mime-data mcelog Also, and I don't know if this should be a separate bug against smart/KIWI or if it's a pattern issue, but when using the GNOME pattern with KIWI, I also get the following error; error: There are multiple matches for 'smtp_daemon' error: postfix error: sendmail -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

We just do not have enough space. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255226 ------- Comment #4 from mboman@novell.com 2007-03-19 07:47 MST ------- Hmm... Shouldn't we change the pattern file to only use packages from the media... And if I connect to the ftp tree, either that pattern file could be updated with more packages or another pattern file containing the "missing" packages could be downloaded? You could simply attach -ftp to those pattern files. I'm testing the KIWI stuff and this is a problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Maintaining even more patterns will be a nightmare, I'm not going to change this. If this is a problem with KIWI, let's reopen and assign to the KIWI folks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255226 ------- Comment #6 from ms@novell.com 2007-03-19 10:41 MST ------- kiwi can handle that by ignoring the missing parts. Just include the following into the config.xml <ignore name="mcelog"/> Of course it would be better if the patterns on the installation medium are valid compared to the medium. Package managers react sensitive if they should install something not existing :) no matter if this is smart or zypper or something I would appreciate if the patterns could be adapted but kiwi can handle if there are problems -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255226 ------- Comment #7 from aj@novell.com 2007-03-20 01:55 MST ------- The patterns are valid! The missing packages are in the list of optional packages and the pattern definition allows that those are non-existant. The required packages have to be on the media - and are on the media. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255226 ms@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED ------- Comment #10 from ms@novell.com 2007-03-21 08:45 MST ------- changed in v1.18 patterns also provide choices for example "smtp_daemon" which allows you to setup either postfix or sendmail. When using smart it reports that you have the choice and stops the installation process. So in that case it is still needed to ignore the "smtp_daemon" entry I assume as soon as we can use zypper which is currently not possible because of a bug in libzypp that problem will fade away. Patterns are SuSE specific so they should be used with zypper not with smart but currently there is no other possibility -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
