[Bug 725961] New: firefox, geeqie: system color profile applied twice
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=725961 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=725961#c0 Summary: firefox, geeqie: system color profile applied twice Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jengelh@medozas.de QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: ku.b@gmx.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- I have a system color profile installed that is loaded into Xorg at xfce startup, so color correction already takes place at a global scale. A top of this, certain programs apply the color correction once more. This concerns e.g. - firefox, when displaying PNG files with sRGB chunk - geeqie, when displaying _any kind of file type_ Test file and screenshots can be obtained from the attachments in bug #725960. Versions of installed programs: firefox-7.0.1, and this occurred with earlier versions too geeqie-1.0 argyllcms-1.3.2 from multimedia:photo. In particular, it does not seem to refer to the per-monitor LUT, as the whacky transform geeqie applies remains if I reset the LUT using dispcalGUI. Only if I disable geeqie's "Use system color profile" does it do what I would expect. That begs the question what my system color profile actually is, because AFACIS, all we did at OSC 2011 was the monitor/LUT calibration. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created an attachment (id=462132) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=462132) [details] how it's rendered in geeqie
Hmm looks pretty normal without comparision link.
gimp and eog does not have the problem. cinepaint does exhibit the same problem as geeqie.
Ah, then its the monitor profile. Gimp is initially set to ignore the system profile in its colour management preferences. Why eog does not use a system profile wonders me. The system profile is a _ICC_PROFILE(_xxx) atom in the root window. You can check by: $ xprop -root -len 4 | grep ICC_PROFILE or ask a CMS, e.g. in Oyranos: $ oyranos-monitor -lc -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please see my previous reply.

The monitor from your profile looked at a first glace not that bad at all.

Most oSC profiles did a calibration followed by a profiling step. The i1display profiles where are crap due to a supposedly defect device, which I wrote the four affected people on Fri, 16 Sep 2011 in the Wednesday ICC monitor profiles email. So I guess the colour management system in geeqie is fine for that case, but unfortunately your data not. Sorry. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
